The e-marketplace Ebay will launch a competitor to Fulfillment By Amazon, the e-commerce giant’s service for sellers. For many years, Amazon has offered to manage the logistics of the e-retailers who want to sell on the marketplace, and now Ebay will launch a similar service for its sellers.
The new fulfillment service will go under the name Ebay Managed Delivery and it will not only handle the logistics for Ebay-related sales but also for sales that occur, for example, in a seller’s standalone online store, or in another marketplace. The rollout of the service using a network of third-party partners to supply warehousing, packing, and delivery services using eBay’s technology platform will begin next year and it will start in the US.
